The Pier 27 Sales Centre is a précis of the motifs and forms developed for the Pier 27 residences: an interplay of density and lightness; framed views of the Lake and City; and privileged pedestrian connections to the water’s edge. The Sales Centre elevates the muscular forms of the Harbour’s architectural heritage: a structural steel exoskeleton suggests the rigging of tall ships, or the cranes that lifted goods from ships into waterfront warehouses. The rigging supports a translucent layer of sailcloth, pinned back to expose strategic views of the City and Lake.
A controlled entry sequence reinforces the maritime experience. A long gangplank leads visitors through a narrow corridor between the sailcloth panels and the building proper. Minimal interior partitions suggest a waterfront warehouse, and allow maximum flexibility for the program specified by the developer.
