NXT reinterprets the tradition of the modernist ‘tower in the park’, and creates a new western gateway into the city of Toronto. A formal entryway leads from the local road through a verge of trees to a sheltered and welcoming courtyard that creates a visual ‘bridge’ between High Park and the Western Waterfront.
Two slim transparent tower rise above the landscaped public green space. Residential suites are wide and shallow, oriented to face outward to panoramic views of the city skyline and the Lake. Rhythmic bands of deep, continuous balconies punctuate the tower façades, and extend residents’ living space out of doors.
